It is reported that MG will release its Cyberster for delivery before the summer of 2024. From the looks of it – this shall be worth waiting for…

Apart from the very stylish scissor doors, let’s start with the fact that it will be an electrical car, with rear wheel drive and 309 bhp as standard. A performance version will have 536 bhp (dual motor). This should indeed be a fast car to drive, no doubt. The range is expected to be around 450 kilometers.

The front of the car looks pretty as expected, I would say. Very nice, but kind of familiar. The rear is a bit more untraditional, with almost Polestar like sharp light edges, and to this the arrow like rear lights. The electrical soft top creates a sleek and smooth line towards the rear.

Interior wise it would be available (as option) with a Tesla like half full steering wheel and four digital displays as standard (!).

The prices are not known at the moment, but let’s hope it would be quite available. Could this perhaps be a real challenger to the Mazda MX5 in 2024?

News: Fantastic fine shape of the new Ferrari Roma Spider!

Quite fun with yet another new open car this year – the Ferrari Roma Spider.

Perhaps quite rare on a Spider, this car has a rear seat (presumable quite small, but probably very practical. We can not wait to develop and offer tailor made luggage bags for both the boot and small rear seats).

The Roma Spider comes with soft top in 5 layers (should be pretty well isolated then!) that opens in about 14 seconds, also in speed up to 60 km/h. The engines is the same as for the Roma Coupe, placed in the front of the car – a twin turbo V8 with 620 bhp, sounding great and giving great performance.

The price should start at 250 000 EUR somewhere.

Finally! An electric convertible will soon be available: Mini Cooper SE convertible

Well, how long have we not been waiting for this great news – an electric car as convertible! It will be insanely interesting to hopefully be able to test drive and experience this car not too long in the future. It should really be an even better experience as electric – to be able to even better hear the pleasant noice from singing birds, the nature and environment while driving.

The new electrical car is named Mini Cooper SE Convertible and will be made in an exclusive amount of 999 cars. The manufacturing for the European market starts in April.

The convertible will have the same drivetrain and battery pack as the “normal” Mini Cooper SE (the electrical version). The engine produces 184 bhp and the range will be 201 kilometers.

It is now three years since the all electric Mini Cooper SE was launched. 20% of all Mini cars that are sold today is this fully electrical version.

– This success has encouraged us to implement this small series of Mini Cooper SE Convertible in just a few months from now. I am glad that we will be able to offer 999 Mini customers their extraordinary and exclusive outdoor go-cart feeling, says Stefanie Wurst, manager of the Mini brand.

The convertible is a four seater. It will come with leather sport seats and sport steering wheel in nappa leather as standard. Heating in the seats and steering wheel is a great feature for the Nordic (sometimes cold) summer climate.

The car will be available in two colours: Enigmatic Black and White Silver. Number 1 to 999 will be marked in the bottom panels of the the in-step to the car and as side panels on the outside.

Right now, it is not clear how many will come to Sweden or the Nordics. It is not clear either what the price might be. The base price for the standard (non convertible) Mini Cooper SE is about 39 000 EUR and for the fully equipped version about 45 000 EUR.

We hope, quite naturally, that we will have a large amount of the 999 to the Nordic market. I will personally keep a close eye on where it might be available to check out and test drive – that should be really interesting to experience. Perhaps we have a lucky customer to us, that has got his/hers hands on one of these 999? Then please get in contact and book a visit to Toplift at Orust – perhaps if I am really lucky, you could take me along for a short drive?

At Toplift we work extremely close together with the factory making luggage bags, to help you make almost any modification that you like for the bags. Below is a section of bags made to customers to inspire you on what is possible – and almost anything is.

To get a personal quote on for the exact design that you want on your bag – you need to get in contact with us. Send an e-mail on info@toplift.se or use the contact section to let us know how you would like your bags!

Many of the examples below are made by hand in real leather specifically to each customers demand. As you see, you have the possibility to remove or replace the standard logo with your own logo or text, choose the real leather colour and the colour of the seams of the bags. Even the inside colour might be altered. You can even add diamond pattern pressed or stitched on the front panel of the bags. Or contrasting real leather handles and panels.

News: Toplift now offer Estate Ready-Fit Car Covers

News: Loose heal plates for car floor mats

News: Toplift cooperates with SmartTOP installers

In Sweden, Toplift has now established cooperations in Stockholm and in Malmö (two of the bigger cities in Sweden) with mechanics that over time will build experience in installing the SmartTOP modules that Toplift offer.

Since before, we already do installation at the Toplift Showroom at the Island of Orust, not far away from Gothenburg.

About SmartTOPS:

News: Porsche Boxster 718

In April 2016 Porsche is releasing its new mid engined roadster 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S.

One major new thing is that they are both now offered with new four- cylinder turbocharged horizontally opposed engines. They have an increase in power and torque (up to 35 hp and 100 Nm) compared to the predecessor. Not to mention lower fuel consumption and emissions.

The key figures are 0-100 in 4,9 seconds and top speed of 275 km/h for the Boxster. The S version goes a little faster, 0-100 km/h in 4,2 seconds and 285 km/h. A lot of wind in the hair at these speeds…

The design is more striking, with sportier chassis setup and a host of new performance, comfort and assistance systems.

They come with either a 6-speed manual transmission with short shift or the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) automatic transmission.

The acoustic experience is of course of great interest, as anyone that has driven the previous Boxsters with 6-cylinder engine, will never ever forget that magic sound… Porsche is claiming that the sound experience will still be very intense, especially in conjunction with the new optional sports exhaust system (option).

The Boxster 718 roadster comes with a fabric hood. At the push of a button, it opens and closes fully automatically in nine seconds – even on the move, up to a speed of 50 km/h.

Other highlights of the new Porsche Boxster 718 are:

Connectivity: web-connected. Innovative infotainment centre with wireless Internet access, online navigation,
Apple® CarPlay and Porsche Connect apps.

Lighting concept: visionary. The LED daytime running lights have been integrated into the Bi-Xenon main headlights – the taillights with four-spot brake lights are newly styled. New: optional LED main headlights with four-spot daytime running lights.

Design: sharpened. Sharp, snappy, clean – inside and out. The design is striking, while the rear end with accent trim looks even wider. The cockpit is newly styled, the specification exquisite. The colour range has been extended.

Sport: forever ready. Multifunctional GT sports steering wheel with mode switch and SPORT Response button.

Safety: reinforced. With Lane Change Assist and a further enhanced brake system – greater driving pleasure and greater safety.

Stress-relief: daily. Adaptive dampers for more comfort on everyday drives. Plus a variety of storage solutions, ample legroom. Two luggage compartments for plentiful stowage – hood open or closed.

The rear wing extends automatically at a speed of 120 km/h, reducing lift to provide even better roadholding performance. The black, sporty rear apron encapsulates a centrally positioned tailpipe, or a twin tailpipe on the 718 Boxster S.

News: Improved APP for GPS-tracker

The GPS-tracker that Toplift offer has now got an improved Smartphone Application. In the free version, you can see the vehicles position and set the GPS-tracker into (or out of) LIVE mode. You can also set the tracker into Alarm mode, where it pushes notifications to you if the GPS gets new positions (i.e. the vehicle is moving).

News: Mini Cooper Convertible 2016

BMW is now launching the updated Mini Convertible, launching in March 2016 at dealers. The new Mini Convertible has got stretched lines, giving it a sportier look, and will be available in five different engine options (three petrol and two diesel engines) all with twin-turbo technology. It will also be sold in a sporty special John Cooper Works edition, with a 231 hp 4 cylinder turbo engine.

The new MINI Convertible is presented with a wide range of exclusive equipment features for open-air pleasure in the style that is typical of the British premium brand. Its fully automatic soft top – purely electrically powered for the first time – is also available as a MINI Yours roof complete with unique integrated Union Jack graphic. Other options include the Always Open Timer, automatic air conditioning with convertible mode and the MINI Connected rain warning function. In order to ensure that driving fun on the sunny side is both agile and safe, there is cutting-edge drive and suspension technology, an extremely rigid body structure and the now fully integrated rollover protection.

When do we see drop-doors on convertibles or roadsters?

Today, we found an interesting video shared somewhere at Facebook, that show a so called drop door modification to a sedan car. It was uploaded on youtube in 2007. The doors look pretty funny, but also make great sense for practical reasons (if safety standards can be met somehow).

We have seen Tesla and Mercedes use falcon wings before – who would dare introducing these type of doors? Naturally, at Toplift we would love to see it on a convertible or roadster, but that might be just too optimistic?

New: SmartTOP to BMW 2-serie Convertible

Now the SmartTOP module allows you to operate your Convertible top by using your Factory Key Fob as you walk up to, or away from your vehicle. Can’t wait? You can even put the top up or down while driving up to 40 kmh / 25 mph.

A SmartTOP module is now available for the BMW 2-Series Convertible (F23).

News: Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible

Porsche is now launching an updated version (2016 update) of the 911 Turbo Convertible. Each time this happens (a series of updates), it makes me wonder if it is possible to fine tune this classic and complete icon? Well, yes it is. See the first details below.

The headlights get the same looks as for the Carrera. 20 bhp more. More environmental friendly engine. 2,9 seconds to 100 km/h. Changes to the design of the air intakes, the grill and the wheels.

New rear lights.

The steering wheel will now follow the design of the 918 Spyder.

News: Mercedes SL 2017 Facelift

Mercedes is now launching the 2017 model of its SL Roadster at the Los Angeles car show.

The body is completely made of aluminium, to save a lot of weight. The front is heavily redesigned. The hood and sides has got cosmetic air vents in chrome. It will have a 9 step automatic gear shift. Also, with the so called Dynamic Select the driver can specify the vehicle´s driving characteristics, with a single press on a button. The standard equipment is very impressive (as should be for this luxury roadster).

The new model will be launched during the spring of 2016.

News: Fiat 124 Roadster

Now Fiat is launching the all new Fiat 124 Spider at the car show in Los Angeles, USA. The roadster has rear wheel drive, and powered by the FCA 1,4 lire tubo engine (also found in Fiat 500). 140 bhp and 240 NM for maximal driving pleasure in combination with Italian design and modern technique and safety.

The chassi and drive train is the same as in the Mazda MX5 Miata, which is an almost guarantee for great handling and lots of fun.

Toplift really likes the italian classic roadster design. We believe it has the potential to be a real success.

The new Fiat 124 Spider will be available at distributors in Europe during the summer of 2016.

Volkswagen Dune Convertible in 2016

Volkswagen will launch a Dune version of Beetle, which make you come to think of the classic Beach Buggy. Topflight especially likes that they plan to release a convertible version!

The car will have higher ground clearance, “ruffer” design and wider wheel base. Large rims are standard. It is probably not built for serious off road driving, but who really cares when the looks are there…

Beetle Dune Convertible will be on the market in 2016. We look forward to it a lot.

News: Range Rover Evoque Convertible

If you ever thought that you needed a convertible that is also a SUV in compact format and with great off road capabilities and exclusive design – Now Range Rover is launching its new Evoque Convertible, just for you.

The Convertible has got a soft top folding down and up in about 20 seconds, even in speeds up to 50 km/h (for you who already have another Convertible car, this effect can be had using a SmartTOP module, please follow this link).

The price is going to be about 50 000 GBP and it starts selling during the summer of 2016.
